our first full day in boston was so fun and it was clear that the rest of our trip was going to be just as good! we started the day by going downtown to watch the U.s. play belgium. there was a huge viewing party outside of city hall. it was fun to get into the game with a bunch of strangers! uncle erik met up with us and after the game, showed us his office downtown. it had some great views of the city! then we took the t to Fenway park and met up with peper and jenny to watch the ball game!

^^^i love the mix of old and new in this city! but mostly, i love all of the old buildings.

fenway park is the coolest! i was so surprised. i’m so used to dodger stadium which is isolated up on a hill with only one way in or out. fenway doesn’t even look like a stadium from the outside. in fact, the night before when we were riding bikes around, we were trying to find it and couldn’t. but we were right there! it’s just integrated into its surroundings. the inside is really cool with it’s old-timey baseball feel (i loved the brick everywhere). and the people here really love baseball, which is also cool :)

^^^after the game, we went on another night ride around the city. this time we ended up at public garden and checked out the spot of the boston massacre. i loved exploring this city with riley! he’s the best travel buddy i could ever ask for.

even though both the u.s. and the red sox lost (maybe we’re bad luck?!), we had so much fun experiencing boston through sports! we were going to tour fenway park but instead got to go to a game which i think is even better! although baseball isn’t my favorite thing in the world, going to professional games is always so much fun. it would be cool to check out other stadiums when we’re in new cities. it’s such a fun way to experience the culture of the city!
