A Day in Portland

my mom and i decided to take a day trip to portland while she was in town. it’s a decently short drive so we were able to just do it in one day. first, we visited the rose gardens. this was the same rose gardens we went to when i was super young for my uncle’s wedding! we have pictures of my brother and i smelling the roses so we tried to reenact one of them :) (see photo below) it was so beautiful there with great views of the city and mt. hood. walking around the gardens was so nice and smelled incredible!! i wish i could save that smell! it was interesting to see all of the different kinds of roses and compare the different smells. i now know why it’s called the rose city! we took the tram around the loop that stops at the japanese garden, zoo, and arboretum but we didn’t do anything else there. next time i think we’ll explore that area more. after that, we were hungry so we went to one of the food truck pods! it was amazing, there were so many different options! however, it was easy for me to choose when i found a cajun one and i saw that they served crawfish ettouffee :) after getting some lunch, i made my mom go to the new anthropologie store with me. it’s the biggest one in the country now so i had to! they also have a ton of their home furnishing line in store so i was in heaven! we then went over to salt and straw to get the best ice cream in the west! we also planned on grabbing some blue star donuts to go but they were closed for a staff party! well, now i have an excuse to go back soon. :) our last stop was a nice stroll on the river front. although there are one too many homeless people over there, it’s still a nice spot to enjoy the river and watch the boaters. we had a nice day exploring the city a little bit, even if it was slightly scorching hot ;) and i always love going new places with my mom!
